A minor girl has accused a youth of “raping” and impregnating her on the pretext of marriage. The police have booked Charanjit Singh, a resident of Ballarwal village that falls under the Ajnala police station. He is at large, the police said.
The 15-year-old victim of Chak Dogra village said Charanjit had developed physical relations with a promise that he would marry her. She said the last time he raped her was on June 20. She urged the police authorities to take stern action against him.
The Ajnala police have marked the investigation to a woman cop. According to the police, the medical examination of the girl had been conducted and raids were on to arrest the accused.
Ajnala SHO Paramvir Singh said the girl’s family came to know about it when she complained of stomach pain and was rushed to doctors who informed the family that she was pregnant. He said both families belonged to economically-weak section. Further investigations were underway, he added.
Sections 376 and 506 of the IPC and 4 and 7 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act have been slapped.
