An unidentified woman in her fifties and her accomplice, a 30-year-old youth, stole a gold necklace from a reputed jewellery showroom on Mall Road here last evening.
They entered the showroom on the pretext of purchasing jewellery for the marriage of her son. The entire incident was recorded on the CCTV camera. The Civil Lines police have registered a case against the two suspects.
According to information, the woman asked the salesman to show gold bangles of different designs. When he was showing them, the woman allegedly hid some bangles in her clothes. The incident came to light when the staff found bangles worth lakhs of rupees missing while counting in the evening. They immediately scrutinised the CCTV camera and found the woman stealing the bangles. — TNS
