The police have yet to make a breakthrough in the murder case of a 12-year old boy, who was found dead at urinals in the Raminder Singh Bolaria Memorial Park, famously known as Skatari bagh, two days ago.

He was strangled to death by unknown persons. The deceased is yet to be identified.

Though the Division C police station had circulated pictures of the boy, no one has come forward to claim the body or identified him. A murder case has been registered at the police station.

Amrik Singh, SHO Division C police station, said all efforts to ascertain the identity of the deceased had proved to be futile to date.

“He appears to be a migrant. Therefore, we have pasted his pictures in the nearby Bhagtanwala grain market besides scrutinising the footage of CCTV cameras of the Golden Temple or Gurdwara Shaheed Baba Deep Singh to get any lead. However, we failed to get any clue in this regard,” he said.

He said the postmortem of the body would be conducted in the presence of a medical board tomorrow.

The murder came to light when several children playing in the park informed a person who was out on a morning walk in the park. He further informed the police.

The boy was strangled with a blue cloth used as a head gear (Parna). The deceased was wearing a black T-shirt and grey trouser.

A case under Section 302 and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against unknown persons on the statement of a local resident, Hem Raj. He informed the police about the body.

Meanwhile, the police are also groping in the dark in another murder case, in which a man in his mid-fifties was found murdered on the roadside a few days ago.

The preliminary probe indicated that he was killed somewhere else and later his body was dumped on the main GT road.

The deceased is yet to be identified.
