Amritsar: The city witnessed three snatching instances on Friday in which motorcycle-borne persons snatched three mobile phones in various parts of the city. The victims were identified as Karan Arora, Navpreet Kaur and Jagdip Singh. Arora stated that he was returning home from the market when two bikers snatched his mobile phone. Similarly Navpreet Kaur alleged that she along with her friend was returning from the bazaar when two youth with shorn hair snatched her mobile phone and sped away. Meanwhile, Jagdeep Singh stated that he was accompanied by his wife and was going to Darbar Sahib from the Vijay Nagar area on a rickshaw when two youths snatched his wife’s purse having a mobile phone and some cash. Separate cases have been registered in this connection. TNS
Rickshaw puller dies in mishap
Karaj Singh, a resident of Bhullar village in Lopoke, was found lying in pool of blood near Khalsa College here on Thursday night. He was rushed to Guru Nanak Dev Hospital where he died. The police have initiated action under the CrPC and launched further investigations in the case. Meanwhile, in another incident, Manjinder Singh, a resident of Uttam Nagar and a photographer with Guru Nanak Dev University, died when his motorcycle collided with a car coming from the Sadda Pind side. An exhibition of photographs by artists participating in IAFA’s Summer Art Festival and camp was held at the gallery on Friday evening. The show was inaugurated by the IAFA president, RMS Chhina. The participants are members of the IAFA team, including Mohinderjit Singh, Dr PS Grover, Dr AS Chamak, Narinder Singh, Harinder Pal Singh and Chander Mohan Arora. The exhibition is a part of the ongoing summer art camp. Apart from students and their parents, a large number of city art lovers visited the exhibition. TNS
