Three POs held

The Amritsar rural police have arrested three proclaimed offenders (POs) in separate cases. Baljit Singh, alias Bagi, of Nangli Kalan village was booked by the police in connection with the seizure of drugs. He was absconding since June 2014. He was arrested by the Mehta police from Mehta chowk area. Sarabjit Singh and Jaspal Singh, both residents of Dheerakot village, were booked in a theft case registered in August 2013. They were arrested from the bus stand in Dheerakot village.
Morcha to gherao Vidhan Sabha
To stop the growing atrocities against Dalits in the state, the district BJP SC Morcha on Sunday announced to gherao the Punjab Vidhan Sabha on June 19. Addressing mediapersons, Kewal Gill, state general secretary of the morcha, said: “We will gherao the state Vidhan Sabha to bring the issue of atrocities on Dalits to the notice of the government.”

Construction work inaugurated

Gurjit Singh Aujla, MP, and Raj Kumar Verka, MLA from Amritsar West, inaugurated the construction work of a road leading to the historical Gurdwara Palah Sahib here on Sunday. Speaking on the occasion, Raj Kumar Verka said the SAD-BJP government in the past deliberately ignored the demand of residents and failed to carpet the road. The road was in a pathetic condition and residents were demanding to carpet the road for the past several years. TNS
