Three held with poppy husk

AmritsarPosted at: Jun 7, 2017, 1:02 AM; last updated: Jun 7, 2017, 1:02 AM (IST)SNIPPETSAmritsar: The Beas police have arrested three persons — Ranjit Singh of Bandala village, Nirmal Singh of Mianwind village and Gurmit Singh of Wadala Bagar village — and recovered 5 kg of poppy husk. A case under Sections 15, 61 and 85 under the NDPS Act has been registered against them. They were held from Umra Nangal T-point. Further investigation was under progress, the police said.

3 booked for assault

The Sultanwind police have booked three persons for assault, causing grievous injuries and criminal trespass. Those booked were identified as Narinderpal Singh, Jagdish Singh and his son Jaswinderpal Singh, all residents of Sant Chanan Singh Colony. Jaswinderpal is son-in-law of the complainant, Balbir Singh. Balbir said his daughter Simranjit Kaur was residing with him following a dispute with her husband and in-laws. “On Sunday evening, the accused barged into our house in an inebriated state and used abusive language. When my son Manjinder Singh opposed, he pointed pointed a pistol at him. They fled after assaulting Manjinder,” he added. A case has been registered.

Earring snatched

Two bike-borne persons snatched an earring from an elderly woman, Simranjit Kaur, near Sultanwind chowk. She along with her daughter Gagandeep Kaur was returning home after paying obeisance at Gurdwara Shaheed Baba Deep Singh on a rickshaw when the incident took place. The police have registered a case.
