The Art Gallery celebrated Teej here today. Women in large numbers participated in the celebrations. Female artistes were invited to sing traditional songs.
To keep the younger generation aware of the heritage and culture, the Indian Academy of Fine Arts celebrated Teej with the likes of folk singer Gurmeet Bawa.
IAFA president Rajinder Mohan Singh presided over the function and Tarun Chugh was the guest of honour. General secretary, IAFA, PS Grover, welcomed and briefed the participants about the importance of the festival. The audience was regaled with folk tunes, songs and a special programme. The IAFA had been celebrating the folk festival of Punjab for the last seven years.
Meanwhile, the festival was celebrated in other parts of the city as well.
Newlywed women made a beeline for religious shrines. Women in large numbers visited Durgiana temple to pay obeisance.
