Teej celebrated at ACET in amritsar


Amritsar: The Amritsar College of Engineering and Technology celebrated Teej in collaboration with the Jagriti Foundation, an NGO. Volunteers of the Jagriti Foundation gave inspiring performances. Faculty members participated in several games and also performed dance. TNS

Drive on consumer rights 

The Education Department has asked the officials to carry out a drive to create awareness among students about consumer rights. The information will be given to students during the morning assembly. Under the initiative, students shall be informed about their consumer rights, violation of their rights, role of consumer courts and the Bureau of Indian Standards. District Education Officer, Secondary, Sunita Kiran shall be responsible for implementation of the orders. TNS

Direct flights sought

The Amritsar Vikas Manch, an Amritsar-based NGO, has sought direct flights from London and Birmingham to Amritsar by British Airways, Virgin Atlantic and other UK carriers. In a letter addressed to Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi, the first turbaned Sikh MP in the British Parliament, NGO’s overseas secretary Sameep Singh Gumtala urged him to approach and persuade the airlines from the UK to start direct flights to Amritsar. Mahatva bags gold in yoga

Mahatva Saxena, a student of Spring Dale Senior School, has won a gold medal in the under-14 category in the national-level yoga competition held in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
