Members of the SSA/RMSA Non-Teaching Employees Union held a protest march against the government for non-payment of their salaries for four months. Led by union president Vikas Kumar, they held a protest outside the residence of Congress MLA OP Soni.
Kumar said job regularisation was the poll promise of Capt Amarinder Singh that was yet to be fulfilled. Another member of the union, Manpreet Singh, said there was no word from the government on the issue. The protesters said amid rising prices, it was an uphill task for them to run their household sans salary. He added that they were compelled to take loans from their near and dear ones to run their kitchens and pay fees of their wards. The protesters said the government should release their salaries at the earliest.
