To motivate students to write letters and inform them about the working of post offices, a seminar-cum-demonstration session was organised at the Senior Secondary Residential School for Meritorious Students by the Department of Posts here recently. The session was conducted in two batches in the presence of staff members. The seminar was conducted for students of Class XI and XII.
At the two-hour workshop, the students were told about the history of India Post.
Various stamps were shown and their relevance was discussed among the audience. The working of the department was also explained to the students.
Explaining the need to organise such events, Col RC Patial, SM (Retd), principal, Meritorious School, said, “I wanted my students to develop the habit of letter writing. To my surprise, none of the students knew what an inland letter is. Hence, officials of the head post office were contacted and a detailed seminar was held.”
