Special focus on border areas: SMO

Gurdaspur, September 20

The newly-appointed Senior Medical Officer (SMO) at the Community Health Centre (CHC), Kalanaur (Gurdaspur), Dr Lakhwinder Singh Athwal inspected subsidiary health centres in the border belt here today. The SMO also attended a free medical camp organised by the Border Security Forces (BSF) at Chaura base in the area. An ENT specialist, Dr Athwal, interacted with residents of the border village and assured them of better health facilities during the camp. “The border villages have least medical facilities so we are planning to give special attention to them,” he said.

While interacting with BSF officials, Dr Athwal said the Health Department would also organise a series of health camps in border villages soon.
