Amritsar, August 4
After Malwa, Doaba and Haryana, the SGPC launched the ‘Dharam Parchar Lehar’ for the Majha region from the Golden Temple complex today.
The SGPC also announced to hold a special programme in the memory of 1965 martyrs Lt General Harbaksh Singh and Abdul Hamid on September 8. Their portraits would also be installed at the Central Sikh Museum.
SGPC president Kirpal Singh Badungar said that the ‘Dharam Parchar Lehar’ of Majha region would be led by Giani Jaswant Singh. The aim is to get children associated with Gurmat so that they could take the lead in making an ideal society.
Gurmat members will campaign in villages where ‘parcharaks’, ‘dhadis’, and ‘kathavachaks’ will play a key role in propagating Sikhism.
On the issue of serving non-vegetarian items in a food joint at the SGPC-run Sri Guru Ram Dass Health University, Badungar said that he would visit the site before commenting on the issue. Regarding the contest of ‘pathis’, he said that their demands of raising wages and perks would be discussed in the upcoming executive meeting.
