Three persons, including a woman, were arrested for running a flesh-trade racket from a house in Krishna Nagar on Tarn Taran Road here yesterday. The accused has been identified as Balbir Singh of Krishan Nagar, Sukhchain Singh of Chattiwind and a woman of Krishan Nagar.
Neeraj Kumar, SHO, Sultanwind police station, stated that they got a tip-off from their sources that Balbir Singh had been running a prostitution racket at his house. Following the information, the SHO gave Rs 500 currency notes to ASI Sharanjit Singh and sent him to Balbir Singh’s house to pose as a customer. When the ASI entered the house and finalised the deal, a police team reached there. One of the accused women managed to flee from the spot.
Later, Balbir Singh was held with the same Rs 500 currency note and other cash. On further search of the house, Sukhchain Singh and a woman were found in a compromising position in their bedroom.
The Sultanwind police has registered a case under Sections 3, 4, 5 of the Badkari Act in this regard.
