Seminar on ill-effects of tobacco


AMRITSAR: With the 33rd Operation Bluestar anniversary approaching near, the city police have geared to thwart any untoward incident. Paramilitary forces, along with the police, were deployed at various places in the city. Over 2,000 cops from the adjoining districts have been called for security especially in and outside the Golden Temple. Police officials said the cops in the civil dress would also be present inside the Golden Temple. They said seven companies of Paramilitary forces had been called for security in the holy city. Radical organisations, including Dal Khalsa, Shiromani Akal Dal (Amritsar) and All India Sikh Student Federation, will carry out marches to mark the anniversary. The Dal Khalsa gave a call for ‘bandh’ on June 6. SGPC Chief Kirpal Singh Badungar had also met representatives of the Dal Khalsa and SAD (Amritsar) for maintaining peace and ‘maryada’ on June 6.
