Schools told to submit fee details

To maintain the data under the new Punjab Regulation of Fee Unaided Educational Institutions Act 2016, the Education Department has asked all schools submit detail of fees.

Pro formas related to the fee hike and other expenditures have been sent to unaided and private schools. They have been asked to fill it in by August 31. Recently, the Education Department conducted a meeting of the officials concerns to provide the forms in their clusters.

The move will ensure that in case of any compliant, these forms can be used and regular inspections can be conducted by the department concerned to check any fee hike.

Rajesh Sharma, Deputy Education Officer, said, “It is a good move to ensure transparency in the system. All details have been sent to the officials concerned. Recently, a meeting regarding the new system was organised by the DEO (Secondary). These pro formas can be used in future to conduct inspections in case of any problem.”

Last year, the fee hike had brought parents to city roads.

They objected the move of all major private schools of the city in which they hiked the school fee.

The parents protested under the banner of the Punjab Parents’ Association. They had accused the school authorities of charging huge fees in name of infrastructure, annual charges among others.
