Police accused of forcing compromise

Amritsar, May 26

Vinod Sarpal, a resident of Gokul Ka Bagh, accused the police of implicating him in a fabricated case here today. He urged the Police Commissioner to provide him justice.

Sarpal, at a press conference, alleged that the Division B police registered a case only to pressurise him to reach a compromise in an year-old case lodged by him. He said he ran a stationery shop which he had taken on a rent in 2010. He said Balwinder Singh and his son Amanpreet Singh of Gokul Ka Bagh area began disputing with him over the shop. Though he vacated it in 2013, the accused attacked him in April 2014. He was admitted to a hospital with fractured waist. The accused were booked. According to Sarpal, the police have now registered a cross case against him on the basis of a fabricated medico legal report to force him to reach  a compromise. Neither Balwinder, nor the SHO could be contacted for comments. — TNS
