Amritsar, June 6
In response to a call given by the Indian Medical Association for observing a nationwide strike, doctors associated with the Amritsar PCMS Association observed two hours’ strike at government and private hospitals here today. The doctors at the Civil Hospital observed a two-hour strike from 10 am to 12 noon and organised a gate rally.
Dr Sandip, one of the members of the Amritsar PCMS Association, stated that the nationwide strike and protests had been organised to press for the acceptance of their demand for a central legislation against violence for the protection of doctors.
“We support the demands of the IMA, as security of doctors is much required,” said Dr Om Parksah.
