One theft, 4 snatching incidents reported in Amritsar

As many as four snatching incidents and one theft incident have been reported during the past 24 hours from the city. The police are clueless about the accused who were involved in these incidents.

In the first incident, Surinder Kaur told the police that she was going on the Sultanwind road when two unidentified person came on a motorcycle from the rear side and snatched her purse containing a Samsung mobile and Rs1,400. The Civil Lines police have registered a case in this regard.

Inder Kumar Sharma, a city resident, told the police that he was going on a rickshaw near the Saragarhi parking when two unidentified youth came from the rear side on a bike and snatched his gold chain.

In another snatching incident, an unidentified youth snatched a gold earring from a woman. Major Singh told the police that he was going on a bike, along with his wife, when the accused came on a motorcycle and snatched the gold earring from his wife.

Miscreants targeted Sarb Parkash, who lives in Australia, at Langar Hall of the Golden Temple. The victim was standing in a queue at Langar Hall when some unidentified pickpockets stole the wallet of the accused containing $1050 AUD, Rs 10,000, Australian credit card and ATM.

The police booked two maids for stealing Rs 1.75 from the house at Ranjit Avenue. The accused have been identified as Shano and Karmajit.

Omesh Kumar, the owner of the house, told the police that he withdrew Rs 2 lakh from a bank and of the total amount, he spent Rs 25,000.

He said he kept Rs1.75 lakh in the almirah and forgot to lock it. Omesh said he found that Rs.1.75 Lakh was missing. He accused the maids of stealing the money. The police have registered a case in this regard.
