Members of the Nursing Association have expressed displeasured over the pay grade of the nursing faculty at Government Nursing College here. The members have complained that the faculty members are not getting pay grades as per the UGC norms.
The association members today held a meeting to discuss the problems being faced by them.
Government Nursing College was upgraded in 2003 from Nursing School. The college has organised graduation ceremonies of 10 batches.
“In all these years, the faculty was redesignated twice at their pay scales. The move did not benefit the faculty at all,” said Raj Bedi Anand, president of the association.
She said many faculty members were near retirement and they had been waiting for their promotion along with applicable pay grades.
The president of the association said a meeting of the departmental promotion committee (DPC) should be held at the earliest.
The association has also demanded from the government to appoint principal on the basis of merit.
“The previous government had appointed a public health nurse as principal despite there was not any sanctioned post of it,” said Raj Bedi.
