Amritsar: The medical camp for drug addicts and their families continued for the second consecutive day at Ranjit Avenue Welfare Society on Sunday. Dr Harjot Singh, leading neuropsychiatrist, and Dr Rupam Gill, medical superintendent, counselled the patients. “We will conduct more camps block wise to educate youth about drug abuse and its treatment. Like other mental illness, this disease too can be cured with right information and approach,” Dr Gill said. TNS

House burgled

Unknown persons decamped with gold ornaments, Rs 7,000 in cash and mobile phones from the residence of Balkar Singh Saturday night. Balkar Singh and his family members were sleeping at that time. He stated that when he woke up to answer the nature’s call, he was shocked to see the doors of an almirah open. The Chheharta police have registered a case. TNS

Two arrested with heroin

The Cantonment police have arrested Gurbhej Singh alias Kala of Sarhala village and Harwinder Kaur of Putlighar area with 5 gm of heroin. They were travelling on a scooter when the police intercepted them following a tip-off. A case has been registered. TNS

Four booked for firing

The Sultanwind police have booked Bablu and Tilli of Bohru and two unknown persons for firing in the air and creating a panic among people. Complainant Suraj said he along with his friends were playing ‘gulli danda’ near the railway lines in Kot Mit Singh area when the accused turned up all of a sudden and fired in air. He said they ran towards a pear garden nearby to save themselves. A case has been registered. TNS
