Amritsar, July 13
Members of the Sanji Sangarsh Committee today called off their strike after getting an assurance that their issues would be addresses. They were demanding cancelation of suspension orders of SEs.
During a meeting with MC Commissioner Gurlovleen Singh Sidhu, leaders of the committee discussed their long-pending demands. The committee demanded recruitment of 346 sanitation workers, release of salaries and arrears on time.
Vinod Kumar Bitta and Harjinder Singh Walia, office-bearers of the committee, stated that MC officials assured that their issues would be addressed.
The committee leaders also asked the MC Commissioner to urge Minister for Local Bodies Navjot Singh Sidhu to rethink on his decision in which he suspended SE PK Goel.
The MC Commissioner assured the members of a meeting with Navjot Sidhu.
MC employees stopped work in protest against the suspension of superintending engineers on last Friday. The strike remained continue till Tuesday, causing inconvenience to residents. — TNS
