Man booked in fake job case

Finally, the city police have booked a person for duping 46 persons on the pretext of providing them jobs in the Municipal Corporation. The accused has been identified as Sukhwinder Singh alias Raju, a resident of Kajikot village, Tarn Taran. Harpreet Singh, one of the victims, said 40 men and 6 women had been working with the MC for the last two years sans salary. “Sukhwinder Singh charged them money from Rs 50,000 to Rs 3 lakhs each, and issued fake identity cards of the MC. When the workers didn’t get salaries for months, they approached higher officials. Then they came to know that they were not hired by the MC. Sukhwinder had been claiming that he had given the money to the higher officials of the MC,” he said.

Jaswinder Kumar, Assistant Sub-Inspector, Civil Lines, said, “As per the directions of Police Commissioner SS Srivastava, we have registered a case on the complaint of victims. Investigation is going on. Senior officials will investigate the matter.”
