Ludhiana resident held with 100-gm heroin

The police have arrested a resident of Ludhiana for possessing 100 gm of heroin. The police said investigations revealed that he came from Ludhiana to get the contraband. The accused has been identified as Bikram Singh, alias Bikki.Tejbir Singh, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime), said the accused was intercepted by a patrolling party of the CIA staff, which was going to Chamrang Road from Sultanwind Road Chowk. He said when the police team reached near a private hospital, it saw that the accused was coming from Ajit Nagar. On seeing the police party, the accused tried to flee the scene. The police arrested him and recovered 100 gm of heroin.He said the accused was produced in the court and it sent him to police remand. The ACP said the police were investigating the source of the contraband from whom he procured it and where he was going to sell it.

Three held with drugs

The police have arrested two persons identified as Balwinder Singh of the Khankot area and Sarabjit Singh of the Wada Haripura area with 11kg of poppy husk.The Amritsar rural police have arrested Jagir Singh, alias Jeeta, of Sheikhpura Mohalla in Jandiala Guru and recovered 6 gm of heroin from his possession. A case under the NDPS Act has been registered.
