Amritsar, July 26
Concerned over the repeated instances of robberies and ATM burglaries, the city police have asked the banks to instal good-quality CCTV cameras inside and outside their premises. Police Commissioner SS Srivastav, while sharing the minutes of the 33rd state-level security committee meeting with officials of the state and Reserve Bank of India wherein security of banks and ATMs was discussed, said the installation of good-quality CCTV cameras would help the police in recognising the suspects in case of any untoward incident.
He said banks should also inform the police and in charge of security branch while ferrying cash and chest currency so that adequate security can be ensured. The police said the ATMs located outside the city should be closed at night. Banks should have hot line connection with the police station in their area to enable police reach the spot without wasting time in case of any emergency. — TNS
