Members of the Ministerial Staff Employees’ Union, at a meeting here today, accused the state government of running away from implementing its poll promises made to them. They said Capt Amarinder Singh had promised to implement the sixth pay commission at the earliest and to release the pending instalments of the dearness allowance.

Association president Dalbir Singh Bajwa said, “Even retired employees are waiting for their bills to get cleared for several months. The bills of dearness allowance too are not cleared by the treasury.”

Having no money, the retired employees are being forced to visit offices time and again.

Union general secretary Jagdish Thakur said, “The anguish against the state government is rising among the employees and pensioners as they were hoping of solution after change in the government. However, none of the poll promises with regard to government employees have been fulfilled. They are feeling cheated.”

The association demanded appointments to vacant positions at the earliest. — TNS
