Amritsar, August 8
A team of the Health Department, led by District Health Officer Dr Lakhbir Singh Bhagowalia, collected 10 food samples from two restaurants and a hotel in the Kotwali area here today.
The team of officials conducted an inspection at Bharavan Da Dhaba, The Brothers and hotel Ramada in the evening. The team found that the kitchens of Bharavan Da Dhaba and The Brothers were unhygienic.
Dr Bhagowalia said, “We are not satisfied with the cleanliness of the kitchens of Bharavan Da Dhaba and The Brothers. Cooks have been working without gloves and caps. We have issued a notice to them for the improvement in cleanliness. The team will visit the same restaurants again after 15 days and check the hygiene conditions.”
The team collected samples of prepared dishes, including curd, cheese, allo matar, pulses, channa masala, ice-cream and khoya, from these places.
“We have sent the samples to the laboratory in Chandigarh. Action will be taken after assessing the report of samples. We have issued instructions to the restaurant and hotel owners to keep the kitchen clean, cook fresh vegetables and follow the guidelines of the Health Department,” health officials said. — TNS
