Amritsar, June 11
A PCR head constable was assaulted by a group of inebriated men in Kapatgarh, which falls under the Chheharta police station, here last evening.
The accused are said to have barged into a neighbouring house and pelted the house occupants with stones. Following this, the PCR team had reached the area after receiving a call.
According to information, a large number of people had gathered at the victims’ house following a minor girl’s death. They requested the accused to stop playing DJ as it was inappropriate at that point of time when people were offering condolences.
The police have registered a case against Hansa Singh, his son Ranjit Singh, Jobanjit Singh, all residents of Baba Deep Singh Colony, Karan Singh of Hardo Sainiya village, Kamaldeep Singh of Gurdaspur, Gurmeet Singh of Kapatgarh and 15 unknown persons.
Sandeep Singh, the complainant, said people had gathered at brother’s house house at Kapatgarh to mourn the death. Someone asked his neighbours to stop playing the DJ, but they used abusive language and also assaulted them. They also hurled stones.
When Head Constable Parveen Kumar tried to stop them, the accused tore his uniform and fled away.
