Flesh trade: Two arrested

One of them has been identified as Pardeep Kumar Bhatia of Gopal Nagar, Majitha road. The poliec said they had got a tip-off that the accused had been running the illegal business in the garb of an spa centre at a shopping complex in Ranjit Avenue. The police sent a decoy customer to bust the racket. He called the police when the accused took money from him and sent a girl for spa services. The police immediately conducted a raid and arrested the girl and Pardeep Kumar Bhatia. A case under Sections 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 of Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act has been registered. TNS

GNDU closed tomorrow

Dr Jaspal Sandhu, Vice Chancellor, Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), has issued orders that the teaching and non-teaching departments of the university campus, regional campuses, constituent and affiliated colleges shall remain closed on Monday. TNS
2 mobiles seized from jail
The Central jail authorities have confiscated two mobile phones from jail inmates during checking. The accused have been identified as Rajkarn Singh of Ranjit Avenue and Daljit Singh of Kairon village, Tarn Taran. The authorities have lodged a complaint against the accused. TNS

Purse snatched

A woman’s purse has been snatched in the city. The victim, Shelly Kapoor, said she was going towards Green Avenue when an unidentified person targeted her near Puppy Restaurant. The bike-borne snatcher took away her purse that contained Rs 5,000 in cash and some documents. She has urged police to crack whip on snatchers. — TNS
