The Rajasansi police have arrested a youth for allegedly making a fake profile on a social networking site by pasting the picture of a girl. Later, he posted objectionable remarks on a community on the fake ID, which brought trouble for the girl.
The victim’s brother lodged a complaint with the police which investigated the matter and arrested the suspect, identified as Vinod Kumar of Bhindi Saida village.
Inderjit Singh of the Rajasansi area stated to the police that on May 20, his friend Anu Kaushal told him about some unknown person who had made a fake ID in the name of Dilpreet Gill by pasting the picture of his sister. He said on May 19, the suspect had uploaded two objectionable morphed pictures and remarks against a community. The accused uploaded a morphed picture of Guru Gobind Singh with objectionable remarks, which hurt the sentiments of the Sikh community.
When he talked about this to his sister, she said around a year ago she had gone to the home of the accused to attend a religious programme where he had taken out the picture from the memory card of her mobile phone.
Gulzar Singh, investigating officer, said Vinod Kumar had been arrested and a case under Section 295, IPC, and Section 67 of the Information Technology Act had been registered. He said investigations were under progress.
