Thought India lost to Pakistan in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy, fans cheered the game’s spirit in the city. The hospitality industry had made sure to throw in loads of lures for the fans as the arch rivals took each other on in cricket as well as hockey turf.
Humble Una installed a giant live screen not just for its guests but for onlookers as well with offers on food and beverages, matching the number of fours and sixes hit on the ground.
Similarly, Holiday Inn too made sure that the fan club didn’t get disappoint after India’s dismal start against Pakistan in cricket. “We have announced freebies and complementary passes for our guests only for the day. The sports contest between these two countries is an occasion to look forward to and we wanted to give our fans the best experience,” said spokesperson of Holiday Inn.
Most of the city hotels too had installed a live screen, pool side view and offered food for the day. Some also shut their shops for the day.
The mood was upbeat at the Khasa BSF camp. Soldiers danced to the tunes of dhol beats at the beginning of the match.
They also cheered for the hockey team, where India defeated Pakistan 7-1.
