Amritsar, July 11
The delay in the replacement of rusted iron electricity poles with the cemented poles has irked the residents of the Sultanwind area.
These rusted iron electric poles are worn out and can fall anytime. Most of the residents of the area complained that the authorities initiate the work during the summers, which cause trouble.
Sagar Rajput, a resident of the area, said, “We spent our whole day without electricity when the authorities initiate their work to replace rusted iron electric poles. Why do officials not initiate the work before summers?”
Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has assigned the task of replacing electric poles with cemented poles to the state unit of Larsen and Toubro Limited. At present, half of the work has been completed in the area.
“We have been facing a tough time without electricity. Moreover, electric wires also got damaged a bit. Around two years ago, it was announced that the old electricity poles would be replaced,” said local resident Inderjit Singh.
“The replacement process of iron electric poles with cemented poles needs adequate manpower and time. Electricity remains cut for the whole day when the work is initiated, which affects the residents. So we have postponed the work,” said Satinder Sharma, Additional Superintendent Engineer, PSPCL.
