The Rambagh (Division A) police have booked a head constable, Raj Kumar, attached with a PCR team for allegedly creating a ruckus by firing indiscriminately in the Sundar Nagar area yesterday.
The police have charged him with endangering human lives by indulging in a reckless act. A case under Section 336, IPC, was registered against him on the statement of Rajesh Kumar.
Kumar stated to the police that the accused, who was in uniform, entered his house and asked about a person named as Mahajan. He said the accused was in an inebriated position and started misbehaving. He entered into a verbal duel with him and later took out his service revolver and tried to fire at him. He said he held his hand and diverted the fire in order to shield himself and his family members.
A police team led by ACP Prabhjot Singh reached the spot and took the accused into custody. Further investigations have been started in this connection, said the police authorities.
