Contractual staff hold black-ribbon protest

Amritsar, June 15

Contractual workers of various government departments continue to work with black ribbons to protest against the government on the second day today.
SSA/RMSA Office Employees Union president Vikas Kumar said they had not been paid salaries for the past nearly four months. He said Congress leaders including the CM had made promises of regularising their jobs but no action was taken in this regard so far. Another leader Narinder Kaur said they had met Chief Secretary Karan Avtar Singh on May 9 who had assured them a meeting with CM Capt Amarinder Singh over the issue of regularising their jobs. Members of various organisations under the tutelage of the Punjab Government Theka Mulazam Joint Action Committee will gherao Vidhan Sabha on June 20.
