The Panchkula police have registered a case against local Congress leader and advocate Vaneet Mahajan and his family members for “criminal breach of trust, bigamy and subjecting married woman to cruelty besides criminal conspiracy” on the complaint of his wife Renu Mahajan.
Besides Mahajan, his mother, brother and second wife have been booked.
Renu had accused Mahajan of subjecting her to mental and physical torture for the last 14 years. She had claimed that she suffered everything silently just to save her marital life and for the sake of her children’s future. Vaneet Mahajan refused to comment on the issue while admitting that he had marital dispute.
Mahajan hogged the limelight in the past due to his spat with former Cabinet minister Anil Joshi. He had accused Joshi of perpetrating attacks on him. Joshi, however, had rubbished the allegations. Mahajan was given police security after being attacked.
The police had curtailed his security last month when his wife had accused him of misusing the police personnel for threatening others. She has urged the police to arrest him soon.
