Commuting woes in Amritsar

Amritsar, August 24

The one-way stretch from the Hall gate to the Bhandari railway overbridge has developed several potholes, causing inconvenience to commuters. Besides, unregulated flow of traffic moving under the BRTS bridge causes traffic chaos.

“I am irked over the potholed roads and puddles of muddy water on the narrow stretch from the Hall gate to the Bhandari railway overbridge,” said Raghav Arora, a city resident. He said the civic authorities showed little concern towards dealing with potholes. Consequently, commuters are having a bumpy ride. A shopkeeper, Sarbjit Singh, said potholes turned into puddles during rains, posing threat to the lives of two-wheeler riders as potholes aren’t visible on waterlogged roads.

Mayor Bakshi Ram Arora said he would direct the officials concerned to recarpet the potholed roads and divert the traffic accordingly.
