Teej was celebrated across the city here today. The women centre at Kot Khalsa celebrated the festival as women dressed up in their finery, sang traditional songs and danced to the tunes of monsoon. The theme ‘connecting people with nature’, encouraging people to plant more saplings.
“It’s a big festival that brings us closer to our tradition,” says Garima Kashyap. The festival is a special occasion for newlywed daughters who come to their parents’ home to celebrate the monsoon festival,” says Usha Kapoor.
Durgiana temple hosts many such young girls and brides, decked up in traditional jewellery and praying for a bright future. — TNS
