Alberta MLA Prabh Gill today presided over a cultural function at the Khalsa College of Education here.
Supporting inter-cultural exchange programmes between Alberta and Punjab, Gill, who is a former student of Khalsa College, spoke about the natural bond of Canada and Punjab.
While distributing prizes among the participants, Gill said students exchange programmes between Canadian educational institutions and that of Punjab were a must.
He also witnessed a melodrama presentation and recital of poems on environment protection on the college. He said this was the most vital issue and Canada and India must join hands to safeguard the fragile environment.
He, along with chief guest of the function Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina, who is also the honourary secretary, Khalsa College Governing Council, distributed the prizes among the Belgrade Awards-2017 delegation.
Manpreet Kaur Cheema, Avneet Kaur, Neha Yadav, Mandeep Kaur, Amandeep Kaur, Kuldeep Kaur, Navraj Singh Chhina, Bansi Lal, Bhupinder Singh and Mandeep Singh were a part of the delegation.
The students, who got prizes, participated in the International folk dance festival — Belgrade Awards- 2017. The delegation that toured Serbia in collaboration of the Punjab Cultural Promotion Council gave presentations on the rich Punjabi culture in Belgrade.
