The district administration will hold a special drive to enrol young voters in the age group of 18 to 21 years from July 1.
During the month-long drive, booth-level officers (BLOs) would run a door-to-door campaign to enrol young voters.
ADC Ravinder Singh, after a meeting with Assistant Returning Officers of all Assembly constituencies and other election officials besides representatives of various political parties, said the count of youngsters in age group 18-21 years is 95,000 but the registered voters in this age group were merely around 27,000.
The drive will focus to reduce this gap, he said, adding that the persons who had attained the age of 18 years as on January 1, 2017, were eligible to enrol as voters. He said special camps to enrol voters would be organised on July 9 and 23.
