In a unique initiative to prepare students studying in various government schools to take competitive examinations, the district administration has decided to help such students by acting has a link between them and coaching centres in the city.
The project, a brainchild of the Amritsar Deputy Commissioner, Kamaldeep Singh Sangha, is aimed at making sure that schoolchildren are capable for appearing and clearing such examinations with others.
A test shall be conducted by coaching institute concerned based on syllabus of the applicant. The child will be admitted by the coaching institute with no fees as per instructions of the district administration.
The DC even held a meeting with a few city-based coaching institutes. According to district officials, it would create awareness about competitive examinations and help deprived and poor bright children fulfil their dreams despite economic impediments. The DC said, “Every child will have to clear an entrance examination of these institutes before he/she is enrolled for coaching.”
District DEO (Secondary) Sunita Kiran said, “We have asked for a list of students from schools concerned. This move will benefit a number of students from various government schools. The work is on in this regard.”
