AMRITSAR: Amritsar (rural) police have seized around Rs 75 lakh in the denomination of banned Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 notes. Police have also rounded up six persons namely Sukhraj Singh, Naveen, Pawan, Arun, Rajat and Pamit in the matter.

SP Jagatpreet Singh said that they had a tip-off following which police conducted a raid at a house in Basant Avenue.
The preliminary investigations suggested that the accused used to collect discontinued currency from the market and get it converted into new currency notes. The SP said since the recovery was made from Amritsar city so they had handed over the case to the concerned police station to investigate.
