550 compete in CBSE Cluster XVI table tennis tourney

As many as 550 students from 52 schools affiliated to the CBSE in Punjab and Jammu Kashmir competed in the CBSE Cluster XVI Table Tennis Tournament 2017, which concluded here on Sunday.

The tournament was organised at Sri Guru Harkrishan Senior Secondary Public School, GT Road, Amritsar.

The chief guest on the occasion was Tajinderpal Singh Sandhu, joint secretary (Education), Punjab. Sunita Kiran, district education officer (Secondary) and Surinderpal Bansal, ACP (North) were the guests of honour. Chief Khalsa Diwan Charitable Society president Charanjit Singh Chadha presided over the function.

In the team section category, Under-19 girls’ team trophy was bagged by Sri Guru Harkrishan Senior Secondary Public School, GT Road. Greenland Public School, Ludhiana, secured the second spot while DAV International School, Amritsar, and Heritage School, Jammu bagged the third position, respectively.

The matches were organised in the Under-19, Under-17, and Under-14 categories, apart from individual events.

In the U-19 category team event for girls, the trophy for girls’ team was bagged by Sri Guru Harkrishan Senior Secondary Public School. Greenland Public School came second and DAV International School and Heritage School Jammu got third positions, respectively.

In the Under-19 category team event for boys, the trophy was bagged by Innocent Heart School, Jalandhar. Sri Guru Harkrishan Senior Secondary Public School secured the second spot while DAV Public School and Bhawan SL School got third positions, respectively.

In the Under-17 girls’ team trophy was bagged by Gobindgarh Public School. DAV Public School, Lawrence Road, Amritsar, secured the second place while Sri Guru Harkrishan Senior Secondary Public School, GT Road, and DCM International School, Ferozepur got third positions, respectively.

In the boys’ Under-17 team section, the trophy was bagged by Bhawan SL School, Amritsar. APJ School, Jalandhar, secured the second while Cambridge International School, Jalandhar and Ram Ashram Public School, Amritsar, got third positions respectively.

In the Under-14 girls’ team trophy was bagged by Ashok Vatika Public School, Amritsar. DAV Public School, Amritsar, came second while Gobindgarh Public School and Spring Dale School, Amritsar, got third positions respectively. The Under-14 boys’ team trophy was bagged by Cambridge International School, Jalandhar. Bhawan SL Public School, Amritsar came second while Innocent Heart Public School, Jalandhar, and APJ Public School, Jalandhar, got third positions respectively.
