A five-year-old boy, Abhi, was abducted by five persons on two motorcycles from outside his residence here today. Though his mother Darshan Kaur tried to save him, the men managed to take him away forcibly. The incident occurred in the street number 2 of Mustafabad area on the Batala road.
Police Commissioner SS Srivastava along with Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) AS Bajwa reached the spot for investigation after receiving the information. They said several police parties had been formed to nab the kidnappers. All entry and exit points had been sealed to nab the kidnappers. A red alert has also been sounded, the police said.
The police suspect that the boy has been abducted by his biological mother, who wants her child back. Darshan Kaur and Kirpal Singh had adopted the child around four years ago from his biological mother Gulshan Kaur.
The Police Commissioner said the couple had adopted the child from Gulshan Kaur, who is known to them. Now, she wants her child back. The needle of suspicion goes around her because she too has been missing from her residence since the abduction of the child. Srivastava said the police was about to crack the case.
DCP AS Bajwal said Gulshan Kaur, who lives in Abohar, was married around six years ago, but the couple divorced soon after marriage. Gulshan had a child from the marriage. She got remarried and Darshan Kaur and Kirpal Singh adopted her child following the due legal procedure. A few days after the adoption, she started demanding her child back, but Darshan Kaur refused.
Today when she, along with Abhi, was going to market, five persons on two motorcycle came and took the boy forcibly away. She said Gulshan Kaur might be behind the abduction.
