The Food and Civil Supply Department has suspended the licences of three depot holders after they failed to submit the record of the distribution of government wheat. Enraged over this, the depot holders misbehaved with the staff and created a scene yesterday. Food inspector Vinod Khosla has lodged a written complaint with the higher authorities.
According to information, the department was receiving complaints of misappropriation of government wheat by three depot holders, two of which were located in the Putlighar area and the third situated in Gwal Mandi area. The department also received the complaints of fake beneficiaries in the belt.
Khosla said he summoned the records for verification from the depot holders. However, even after repeated reminders, they did not submit the records, which is mandatory as per the norms. When they failed to produce the same, the department suspended their licences.
He said the depot holders entered the office and misbehaved with the staff. They allegedly threatened him of dire consequences. “I have lodge the complaint with Secretary, Food and Civil Supply, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Director Food and Civil Supply and District Food and Civil Supply Controller,” he added.
