Amritsar, June 13
A four-year-old child besides two persons lost their lives in a head-on collision between two cars near Bohru village on Amritsar-Jhabal Road here last evening.
The victims were returning to Amritsar after paying obeisance at Baba Budha Sahib Gurdwara. The deceased were identified as Japanjot Singh (4) and Pardeep Singh (28). Kanwaljit Singh of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Colony on Barnala Road, his wife Rupinder Kaur, a relative Birpal Kaur and Navjot Kaur were injured in the mishap.
A case under Sections 304-A, 337, 338, 279 and 427, IPC, has been registered against the unknown driver who was driving a car.
Kanwaljit stated to the police that he along with his family had come to Amritsar on Saturday to pay obeisance at Golden Temple. He said yesterday after paying obeisance at the Baba Budha Sahib shrine on Amritsar-Jhabal Road, they were coming back to the holy city when the driver of the other car while overtaking a truck collided with his car. His son Japanjot died on the spot while his relative Pardeep Singh succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.
ASI Narinder Singh, who is investigating the case, said a probe was on to identify the accused and arrest him.
