Amritsar, June 3
In yet another recovery, the Amritsar Central Jail authorities have confiscated 10 mobiles phones found abandoned during checking in the jail yesterday. The repeated instances of sneaking in of mobile phones have become a major headache for the jail authorities. Only yesterday, they arrested a pharmacist while trying to sneak in two smart phones inside the jail complex. He had hidden the phones inside the stock register of medicines by cutting the pages. Earlier, a gunman of a superintendent was arrested on similar charges.
The 10 mobile phones were found abandoned at various places inside the jail. Following a complaint lodged by the jail superintendent, the police have registered a case under Sections 420, IPC, and Sections 42 and 52-A of the Prisoners Act in this connection. — TNS
